The San Juan and Carolina option also builds in a 45-minute stop at the Luquillo kiosks on the way.

The day itself is the reason for the rating. Groups are kept small, a safety briefing and life vest come first, and after about 25 minutes of hiking you reach a hidden pool for rope swings, rock jumps of varying heights and swimming. The guide works Taíno legend, island history, native plants and wildlife into the walk rather than reciting facts at the trailhead, and photos and videos are taken for you and included.
